About

Where macXcapture came from, and how to get in touch.

Todd Vernon

macXcapture is a sub-tool of the macXserver project. I built it so I could record what an X client said over the wire, read the bytes back, and replay them against another server. It outgrew its debugger origin and turned into something useful on its own, which is why this site exists.

The longer story — what macXserver is, why I’m building it, the 30-day sprint that produced it, and a bio — lives at macxserver.com/about/ .

Bug reports work best as a GitHub issue with the captured .xtap attached. For anything else — feature requests, weird wire-level edge cases you’ve seen, a protocol you’d like the decoder to handle, or a question about the format — the form below comes straight to me.
